The Sustainability Incubator Projects apply our agile and design sprint expertise to local community projects. Passionate about a cause? An incubator project may be the way to make the positive impact you imagine.

When we get a group of passionate and skilled women mobilized toward a sustainable future, new movements and initiatives are bound to be born! We support Women in Agile as they envision and create these new avenues of engagement.

Awareness Into Action

Awareness precedes choice. Choice precedes change. The Awareness into Action program first creates awareness about our shared predicament and starts the ball rolling toward taking action to create the change we want to see. The main vehicle we use for this is The Week. It’s a program created by Frederic Laloux, author of Reinventing Organizations, and his partner Helene Gerin. It is 3 x 2hr sessions held over one week, one group at a time.

The Week creates awareness and educates about the many actions one can take from a position of “no shame, no blame, no should”. Hosts also share ways to “plug in” to the movements and initiatives already started by others in the agile community.

The Week makes hosting sessions simple. Anyone can do it. Through World Work, the sessions are hosted by WIA members who have experienced The Week and want others to experience it. Hosts are supported by the World Work program directors every step of the way.

The ultimate aim of Awareness into Action is to spur members to take whatever action their hearts and minds direct and to connect other members to those actions in mutual support.

Sustainability Incubator Programs

We aim to bring more hope through the actions that SIPs provide to our local communities. By fostering positive local impacts, we aim to contribute to a broader global transformation on Sustainability.

Our Approach

Uses a Design Sprint over a 2-3 month period with a collective team of WIA members, SIP team members, and a Sustainability Challenge for a Community or Non-Profit. The team will talk to Subject Matter Experts, Identify the Challenge to work on for the Sprint, Create a Prototype, Get User Feedback and Provide a Recommendation to Pivot, Persevere or Stop. At the end of the sprint, the community will have a prototype and amazing data to allow them to choose their next steps for their challenge.

How to Participate & Get Involved In SIPS

We are a group of Agilists and professionals, worldwide, all volunteers, gathered to use our skills and knowledge to build a sustainable world. “Sustainable development requires an integrated approach that considers environmental concerns, economic development, and social impact“ (UN, 2024). We believe that Agility is crucial in promoting a sustainable life, and that this cannot be done alone but in collaboration as a community (here is where you come in!)
